Week six and still in Oshkosh, WI.
This has been a very hectic week with lots of visits with friends, lots of eating out and, of course, lots of fun. I do have to slow down on the eating though, especially the sweets. I also have sold several of my books this week and have asked the people who got my book to give me feedback. I am curious to find out what their reactions are. We went to Milwaukee on Thursday to visit with our friends Mark and Debbie who took us to a taco and margarita fest at the South Shore Yacht club. Too much food of course but there was a calypso band that played very nice music which gave me a chance to dance some of the food off. Gary mostly watched me dance. I wish I had brought my camera along as I could have taken some fantastic pictures of the city at sunset with all the beautiful boats (mostly sailboats) on the back ground. On Friday we went to Mark and Debbie’s “yacht” and toured around the harbor. We saw from the boat the beautiful Milwaukee Art Museum that is built in the shape of a big sail boat. When the wind isn’t blowing too hard the wooden sails are out (see picture). I had my first barbecued chicken pizza at Louise’s which was actually much better than I had expected. The next day we went to an old fashioned farmer’s market. How fun to see all these good veggies, fruits and beautiful plants for sale. Even several kinds of cheeses made in the area were offered for sale. I had never seen purple potatoes and will let you know how they are as we haven’t tried them yet. We certainly have enjoyed the fresh corn on the cob and the wonderful vine ripened tomatoes. It reminded me of the markets in Holland. On the way to Mark and Debbie we stopped at the Wisconsin Auto Museum where we saw lots of old cars — all made in Wisconsin, a beautiful model railroad train and some old fashioned things like a motorized bicycle, an old trailer and a big, old steam engine. It was really nice to see. Anyway, enjoy the pictures and look for more next week. Hope all of you are having a wonderful summer; we certainly are.
